Desiree Marr is a fearless marketing writer whose conversational-yet-compelling copy has enticed millions of customers. She spent seven years in NYC as a fashion editor at publications like Lucky, Star, and Life & Style before entering the dynamic beauty space. She then packed up 13 boxes of black ankle boots and headed west to SF. There she spent two years helping launch Sephora.com 2.0, three years directing editorial for 600 Sephora inside JCPenney stores, and five years bitching about BART.
Des cut her Invisaligned branding teeth at award-winning agencies like Bartlett Brands (San Francisco) and MSLK (New York). An eternal equal opportunist, she works with big brands, startups, one-(wo)man shops, clusterfucks, you name it. She is obsessed with building the best brand voice, cutting through the copy clutter, and creating clever buy-or-die taglines.
Now based in LA with her skinny husband and three(!) hangry kids, she has come to the conclusion that there's never enough black in her closet, time in the day, or caffeine in her coffee.
THE FUN ONE
Waaaaay back in the day (i.e. the year Biggie was shot), I decided to study marine biology due to my borderline obsession with dolphins and the movie Splash. Unfortunately, I flunked freshmen chemistry at UCSB. Fortunately, I remembered that my 6th-grade teacher once falsely accused me of plagiarism. From there, a writer was born!
Highlights? I traveled the world solo, saved a wild sloth, was runner-up on Singled Out, majored in Fashion Marketing at Parsons, slaved away at a bunch of fashion mags, interviewed to be Anna Wintour's assistant, styled The Jersey Shore cast, danced with Mick Jagger, met my man on Match.com, and somehow had three kids in three years. And I finally, FINALLY fulfilled my life-long dream of swimming with dolphins.
